Continue ReadingHalloween is one of my favorite holidays and its not because of the candy. I LOVE to dress up in costumes. And even though I have two professional grade costumes in my arsenal of attire, I don’t wear either one of them on Hallows Eve. Instead, I like to find cheap and creative ways to dress up as whatever floats my boat at the time.
Continue ReadingLego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes is the latest addition to the Lego DC Universe. I loved the first Lego Batman game so I was super excited to see that Lego was once again on good terms with the Bat and his friends.

Continue ReadingBased off the sculptures of the same name, the Ame-Comi Girls series is re-writing some of the characters I’ve grown up loving. I started to see subtle changes in Wonder Woman and Batgirl’s issues, but after seeing what they’ve done to Powergirl, I’m convinced of what DC is doing; making this comic book series universe an all woman superhero team.
Continue ReadingBy now, most comic book fans have heard that Superman and Lois Lane are no longer the “it” couple of DC Comics. Replacing the famous reporter is none other than the Amazonian Princess, Wonder Woman. I’ve heard that the two have dated briefly in the past, but it was nothing like what he had in the story lines with Lois. Looking at this from a newbies stand point, I’m excited to see where this goes, because I think the characters compliment each other nicely.

Continue ReadingSuperman Family Adventures follows our favorite Kryptonian and his adventures with Lois, Jimmy, Supergirl and many others in Superman’s world (including Fuzzy the Krypto Mouse). Just like Tiny Titans, this series is already a hit with comic book fans of all ages.
Continue ReadingI’m lucky to have a husband who is a kid at heart because it makes shopping for him easy and fun. Most of the time, I can get his presents at my local toy store or comic book shop. It was this unique trait that inspired me to put together the ultimate Father’s Day gift guide for the kid at heart. So, without further adieu, I give you the gift guide for the dad who prefers transformers over ties and Legos over soap on a rope.
Continue ReadingAs the DC Comics New 52 Justice League and Justice League International Volume 1 are released, I’ve been looking back at my first experiences in the comic book world. Since January, a few of my articles ended up on DC Comics Facebook page, I met both Tony Bedard and Dan Didio, and I made a new comic book friend in Bill McCray. Comic Book Corner on GeekMom is going strong and I enjoy not only contributing, but also reading the other GeekMoms’ take on the comic book world.
Continue ReadingHave you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes of your children’s favorite comic book stories? Me too! That’s why I will be talking with Arthur Baltazar, one of the men behind Tiny Titans and Superman Family Adventures, about his work on the series. Personally, I’m curious about why Tiny Titans was canceled and about […]
Continue ReadingWelcome to a special segment of Comic Book Corner dedicated to the young comic book readers. Ever since I started to read comic books (a whole four months ago…), I’ve wondered what kind of appropriate material is out there for kids. A few times on GeekMom we’ve had parents ask us what to get their kids. After […]
Continue ReadingOne day my younger brother Douglas and I headed to our local comic book store. Douglas has been interested in reading comics again so I suggested he start reading the New 52. Since I already buy Justice League and Justice League International, he decided to get Batman and Superman so we could swap comics. I […]
Continue ReadingWhen DC announced their new 52 series, I was ecstatic. I have always wanted to get into reading the Superman, Batman, and the Justice League comics. What scared me out of getting into it was all the history I didn’t know. The new 52 gave me what I was looking for…a fresh start with all my favorite comic book characters. I would like to think I know a lot about Batman and the others, but the truth is I am a complete newbie to their comic book worlds.
Continue ReadingIn November 2000, I hopped on a bus with fifteen other exchange students and went down to New York City. It was my first trip there and to say I was excited was an understatement. I was determined to take full advantage of my semester in the US, and so rather than go home with […]
Continue ReadingI am a bit behind the curve and only recently finished watching the Showtime series The Tudors. It’s taken most of the summer, but I finally saw the last episode where crotchety old Henry VIII bids us adieu. Despite the series title, my favorite character wasn’t Henry, but his best friend, the Duke of Suffolk, […]
Continue ReadingHere it is, the definitive GeekMom Mother’s Day shopping guide. I surveyed my fellow GeekMoms to see what everyone most wanted for Mother’s Day, outside of the lovely pleasantries of nice meals cooked for us, time spent with our adorable children, and moments of solitude. This is our list, and chances are there’s something on […]
Continue ReadingOh, you know it had to happen. The whole backward-bathrobe-sold-as-an-entirely-new-product-to-keep-the-family-warm wasn’t enough. Some clever soul adapted the idea to create a super snuggly blanket that will have people doing a double take. Even Lois Lane might mistake you for Superman in this “comfy throw blanket with sleeves.” Stay warm and toasty throughout the winter months, […]
