I don’t know about you guys, but when I was little I loathed biographies. I thought they were so dry and unrelatable. Did you feel this way? It’s funny to think about now, because if I was forced to choose a favorite genre, biographies and memoirs are right at the top.
Because I love biographies, I am constantly on the hunt for high-quality biographies for my children. My kids are still young, at 8, 7, and 5 years old, and so I love when I can find a fantastic picture book biography series.
Today, I am sharing my favorite series: Ordinary People Change the World by Brad Meltzer.
‘I Am Jim Henson’ Is Here… and It’s Fantastic!

I love Brad Meltzer’s biographies because they are engaging, funny, and real. Children are immediately drawn to the characters and each story illustrates how ordinary people can change the world and become extraordinary! The entire series teaches children that they have the power to be heroes. How inspiration is that?
Inspire your children with ‘Ordinary People Change the World’
Currently, the series includes the following biographies:
- I am Helen Keller
- I am Lucille Ball
- I am Jackie Robinson
- I am Albert Einstein
- I am Abraham Lincoln
- I am Rosa Parks
- I am Amelia Earhart
- I am Martin Luther King, Jr.
- I am Jane Goodall
Our family owns every single book in the series. They are that good. My children are constantly hounding me, asking when the next biography will be released.
I am so happy to report that it is here!
‘Jim Henson’ is the latest addition to the ‘Ordinary People Change the World’ series by Brad Meltzer
This latest addition to the Ordinary People Change the World series features Jim Henson, creator of The Muppets and Sesame Street.
This charming story will have your children laughing, it will inspire them to dream big, and it will ignite their imagination and creativity. Immediately after reading this book (twice, because again: it’s that good), my kids ran off to the playroom to create their very own Muppet Show.

Just went to pick up some of these on Amazon (we have Einstein, and the kids love it), I saw Sacagawea on there as well. Wasn’t on your list, not sure if knew, overlooked, or something you weren’t aware of yet.
Hi, xienwolf. Thanks for your comment! I believe Sacagawea comes out in October of ’17. I could be wrong. I will definitely update when it is out. These books are fantastic!
