Today, The Wizard of Oz kicks off a one-week engagement in IMAX theaters across the country. The film has been converted to 3D, promising a whole new take on the quotable classic. A 75th Anniversary Limited Collector’s Edition Blu-ray release will soon follow.
If you can’t make it to the theater or maybe have little ones not quite ready for the Wicked Witch of the West and her flying monkeys, Disney has a sweet alternative. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: The Wizard of Dizz will debut on the Disney Channel at 9:00 a.m. ET/PT this morning.
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: The Wizard of Dizz was released on DVD back in June. However, this is the first time it’s airing on the network.
The 103-minute special finds Minnie Mouse and Pluto getting swept up in a big wind and over to the land of Dizz. It’s a magical place with rainbow trees, butterfly bows, and super-cute “Chipmunchkins.” Despite those enchanting surroundings, Minnie desperately wants to get home, and enlists Scarecrow Goofy, Mickey the Tin Mouse, and Donald the Lion to help make her dreams come true.
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: The Wizard of Dizz debuts at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, so set your DVR. Otherwise, check out the Disney Channel’s programming schedule for a list of replay options.
