Welcome Back Reading Rainbow, We Missed You!

When I was in school, Reading Rainbow was one of my favorite TV shows. The signature theme song would get stuck in my head for most of the day after watching whichever episode my teacher put on for us. Levar Burton felt like a friend I had met in the library and I looked forward to the books he would use in each episode. The thing I really liked about Levar was how excited and eager he was to read each book. I feel like his enthusiasm to read rubbed of on me a little bit.

Madefire — Bringing Comics to a New Level

Madefire is the latest comic book reading application. Every title has motion, sound and transitions that help bring the story to life. I was given the chance to be one of the first to experience the app while in its testing phase and at first glance, it looks okay. Its defined as being “An immersive audio, visual and motion reading experience. The colors are bright, the transitions are neat and the overall experience is more than what you get from most comic book apps.

Father’s Day Gifts with Ulterior Motives: iGrill

On Mother’s Day, they tend to advertise a lot of things like vacuums and ironing boards. I think that’s a little mean. It’s like giving someone a gift that says, “Clean my house!” I’ll admit that I’m occasionally guilty of doing this for Father’s Day, although my gifts usually say “Cook for me!” He likes cooking, and I like eating, so I refuse to feel guilty about it. This year, I received a review model of the iDevices iGrill, and I wanted to see if it qualifies as good gift encouragement for tasty smoked meats.

Review: Hand Stylus Shows Promise

I’ve been going through a bunch of styluses lately. It turns out they mostly suck. Picture trying to write something with a hot dog encased in metal. Not exactly an artists dream, and usually I just give up and used my finger. You know, one of the ten styluses Steve Jobs said we carried with us all the time? The Hand Stylus ended up not sucking. Hooray!

Wicked Audio 3D Series for Kids Review

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a sucker for headphones and anything shiny. If I can share the shiny object with my son, it gets bonus points. Wicked Audio 3D series headphones are one of those items. The packaging was simple and not over the top (another bonus because I hate wasted packaging). The cording was long enough to keep my son from getting tangled up and the built in volume control was a nice feature.

Battle of the iPhone Cases

In a perfect world, I wouldn’t be a klutz and I would never drop my phone. On the off chance that something happened to my device, like my six-year old son, it would survive the experience unscathed. Yea…I’ll hang on to that pipe dream. The reality is that phones get dropped. If you have children, regardless of how high you put your phone, eventually they will get their hands on it . So, what is the best way to protect your device? That’s a question I have been asking myself since I first got my iPhone last year.
