Petite Pup Products From Petmate.com

Family GeekMom Reviews Toys

Bakster Sullivan is the newest addition to our family and to help our family get a head start on raising him, Petmate.com sent Bakster his first care package full of goodies that are small breed friendly. Here’s a quick overview of what we received and my rating of each on the “pawsome” scale.

Aspen Pet Oval Bed with Bone Applique, $14.99

The Aspen Pet Oval Bed is specifically designed for the small breed of pups, which really made it perfect for Bakster. This turned into his bedtime area bed and it’s nice to see him all curled up comfortably on it in the mornings. The best part about this bed is that it’s machine washable. I tested this out and it actually came out unscathed! Yay!!

Chuckit! Breathe Right Fetch Ball, Three sizes, $5.95 to $7.95

Finding toys for little pups is a challenge, especially balls since their mouths are so small. Bakster had tried to play with other balls in the past but the Chuckit! Breathe Right Fetch Ball is the only one he took to. The small size is just the right fit for a toy poodle and they have a nice bounce to them as well. The cool thing about these balls is that they are designed to allow air to flow through it while the dog is running.

Note to Petmate.com: Update the pictures to show the differences in the three sizes. Maybe place an apple with each one to show customers the size comparison.

Petmate K9 Control Retractable Leash, $16.95 to $31.95

The K9 Control Retractable Leash is the only retractable leash that will retract slack while in the locked position. This helps to prevent any Looney Toons style tangling of you and your pup by keeping the slack to zero. And when you have a puppy who is everywhere on their walks, that is a feature worth having.

I’m giving it four paws because it’s also the only leash I had to read the instructions to operate.

Honorable Mentions

Here we have products that might not be little dog specific but they are well worth mentioning anyway. My mom has two big-ish dogs and these are products they have and love. I wish they came in Bakster’s size.

Chuckit! Sport Launcher, Various Sizes, $6.95 to $11.95

The Chuckit! Sport Launcher is not one for the small pups but it’s still a neat enough toy to mention. My mom’s dogs love theirs even if it is a bit hard to get Raf to let go of the ball after he brings it back to you. It’s a simple toy. The tennis ball fits in the special holder and the launcher allows the thrower to get the ball at least three times farther than they could without it. And for those who are not so fond of the doggy drool, the launcher allows you to pick the ball up without touching it for the next go around. Any standard 2.5-inch tennis ball or Chuckit! ball will fit for added fun.

Chuckit! Hydrosqueeze Duo Tug, $14.99 to $16.99

The Chuckit! Hydrosqueeze Duo is a four paw product only because I wish it came in Bakster’s size. My mom’s big dogs love their Chuckit! Ultra Duo Tug and it’s held up even with their rough and tumble play. The Hydrosqueeze Duo is the perfect Florida dog toy because you can play with it in the pool and it will hold and release water during play. It’s also compatible with the Chuckit! launcher mentioned above so you can get even more distance for your throw.

Do you have a product you love to use with your small dog? Let me know in the comments. I’m looking for any suggestions I can get!
