When I was a kid, the pick-your-path books by R.L Stein were the hottest things in the bookstore. As an adult, it’s fun to find another pick-your-path that makes you laugh at the daily grind that is being a responsible adult. In A Daze Work: A Pick-Your-Path Journey Through the Daily Grind by Siobhan Gallagher is one of those hilarious books that hits close to home.

You start by deciding if it’s the weekday or weekend and the fun goes up from there.

Being in control of the story can be self-reflective, as you know what you would do but maybe a part of you is pulling at you to pick the other choice. Pay attention to those moments. You might learn something about yourself that only a book like this can teach you.

I almost want to read the book cover to cover to see all the various things you can get caught up in doing, but that takes the fun out of it. In one instance, I did kind of cheat and I was paid for it with death (kind of a harsh consequence to the situation but, oh well. If you believe in resurrection you can skip back to page 1 and begin again).

Siobhan has a natural humor about her writing and the book’s illustrations are comforting. Acknowledgment pages are not all that fun to read usually but I implore you not to skip hers. You get that bonus dose of her personality that shines through the page.

It’s a fun book to keep at your desk or your nightstand for when you need a break and a good laugh.

In A Daze Work is available today at your local bookseller.
