Secret Agent 23 Skidoo might have a long name, but once you hear his unique brand of “kid hop,” you won’t forget it. You won’t find soothing lullabies or a chirpy rendition of the “clean up” song here—Skidoo mixes beats and rhymes to bring hop hop songs to kids that will truly get them hopping.

Skidoo’s newest release, The Perfect Quirk, is perfectly suited for all kids out there—especially geeks!—who love to embrace what makes them unique. A theme to many of his kids’ songs is originality, and Secret Agent 23 Skidoo has it in spades. The Perfect Quirk features songs that reach out and grab kids’ interests, as you can see in the first video from the album, “Pillow Fort Pillow Fight.”

After hearing “Pillow Fort Pillow Fight” for the first time, my daughter chanted it for days. Another favorite on the album is “Imaginary Friend,” with clever storytelling and a hook that I find myself attempting to rap when no one else is around. (You can find a preview of the song on 23 Skidoo’s web site.) Kids will even hear songs that will get them to think, like “3 Pointed Back,” which encourages listeners to think before pointing fingers to laugh at someone else. The first song on The Perfect Quirk, “You’re It,” is practically a geek kid anthem and an affirmation that weird is wonderful.

The Perfect Quirk will be released on June 24, 2014. If you’ve been looking for kid-friendly hip-hop or family music that won’t put you to sleep on your next road trip, pick the album up this summer.
