Just in case you haven’t noticed, I’m a Star Wars fan. Besides owning two approved 501st and two Rebel Legion costumes (clones count for both legions), I also enjoy reading up on the dark and light sides of the force. There are ample supplies of fictional novels that happen in the Star Wars universe, but there are also some great books for collectors, cooks and force enthusiasts.
First up on the list is my husband’s favorite (and this year’s birthday present), the The Jedi Path: A Manual for Students of the Force. I was inspired to seek out this particular title after he participated in the grand opening of Star Wars miniland at Legoland Florida. While wearing his Jedi knight costume, a couple of younglings were asking some very interesting questions. One of the younglings wanted to know where and how much they could get a holocron for, while another was curious why the Jedi had different sized lightsaber hilts.
I figured this book would be a great for him to read up and be more prepared on the ways of the Jedi and I couldn’t have been more right. He’s already learned more about the ways of the force and the book has given him some insight into other Jedi. I’m thinking of getting myself a copy to make notes in and prepare myself better for when I suit up as Aayla Secura at Megacon 2013. I think it would be neat for us both to make notes in the book like the students who had the book “before us.”

The next book on my list has been described by one of friends as the “action figure bible.” Star Wars: The Ultimate Action Figure Collection is written by none other than Steve Sansweet, the largest private collector of Star Wars memorabilia in the world. This book is the ultimate guide to Star Wars action figures and includes close to 2,500 figures produced over the last 35 years. The book includes every unique Star Wars action figure made from 1978 to 2012 and is the perfect present for the avid collector in your family.
The last book on my list is for the cooks in your family. The Star Wars Cookbook: Wookiee Pies, Clone Scones and Other Galactic Goodies contains recipes for all ages. What I like the most about this book is the variety of complexity in the recipes. I wouldn’t say any are for the expert chief, but some have as few as four ingredients and are as simple as mixing the ingredients together and saying “Cheers!” The book comes with three cookie cutters (Darth Vader, Yoda and R2-D2) to cut your creations into Star Wars shapes.
So whether you’re a Jedi Master, a cook or a collector, there is a book in the Star Wars universe for you or the fan on your list.
