IDW has teamed up with Hasbro to bring the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic universe to a comic book store near you. Debuting this November. the series will help to pass along the show’s message of fun and friendship to its readers.

The series will be written by Katie Cook. Her resume includes working with both DC and Marvel Comics but my favorite of her projects is her weekly web-comic series GronkAndy Price will be doing the artwork. After checking out his deviant art page, I’m really excited to see what he comes up with for series.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic first aired in 2010 on the Hub TV Network and has inspired a new generation of pony lovers. The comic book will focus on new stories rather than episodes that have already been released in the series.

I watched my first episode of the animated series with my six-year old son last week. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Hopefully, the written stories will be just as much of a joy to read as the animated series is to watch. IDW has said that the comic book series will be aimed at both the younger and older pony lovers.

It will be interesting to see how many new comic book readers this series brings in. It will be a relief to have another decent series to recommend to parents when asking for a kid-friendly comic book.

After all, you shouldn’t have to give up the things you love simply because you get older….the list should just get longer.
