During today’s Pokémon Presents event, Takato Utsunomiya, Chief Operating Officer of The Pokémon Company, announced the new mobile game Pokémon Friends would be available at the end of the event.
Pokémon Friends is a plush-themed puzzle game set in Think Town, “a cozy corner of the world that’s famous for making Pokémon plush.” A machine called the Plush-O-Matic makes plush from yarn, which you must first untangle by playing puzzle games.
The game will hold up to five save files, so you can share your app with family members without them needing their own devices. The initial training tasks are simple, helping you create your first plush, a Pikachu, pretty quickly. (Great news for impatient small friends.)
As you make plush, you add them to a room, which you can rearrange as you like. You will run into characters who ask you to bring them a specific plush, which builds your friendship with them and gives you rewards to decorate your plush room.
Pokémon Friends is on Android and iOS for free to start, but will eventually ask you to make purchases to continue. It’s also available for the Switch and Switch 2 in the Nintendo eShop for $9.99 for the starter puzzles. Additional puzzle packs are available on all platforms.
