GeekDad: Enjoy Massage and Heat Functions with the FlexiSpot XL3 Power Lift Recliner

GeekMom

Last year we had to purchase a lifting recliner for my mother who has difficulty getting out of a chair by herself. Most of these types of recliners were quite expensive and we ended up paying a lot more than we should have. I recently became aware of recliners by FlexiSpot and was very impressed with their XR2 Power Swivel Rocker Recliner. Now I have had the opportunity to try out their XL3 Power Lift Recliner by FlexiSpot. Here are my thoughts on this new product.

What Is the FlexiSpot XL3 Power Lift Recliner?

FlexiSpot is a furniture manufacturer the that makes recliners, sofas, standing desks, ergonomic desk chairs, and even adjustable beds. The XL3 is one of their power lift recliners. It stands 43.7″ high and 35.4″ wide. When fully reclined, it is 63.8″ from back to footrest and only needs 14″ of wall clearance for reclining. The seat is 22.8″ wide and 20.8″ deep and the recliner can support up to 300 lbs. in weight.

The XL3 recliner comes unassembled. It is delivered in two boxes which makes it easier to move into your home. After unpacking the boxes, you will have a base, a back, two sides,, and a small box with the two remote controls, and two power supplies with cords. Assembly is very easy. The sides slide onto the two rails on the base. Then attach the back to the base on two more rails. Each power supply has one cable that attaches to one connecting cables underneath the chair. You will also need to connect two cords from the back to the seat. Then all you need to do is plug the power supplies into an electrical outlet and you are ready to use your recliner. I was able to assemble the recliner in just a few minutes all by myself. No tools are required and the instructions are illustrated and simple to follow.

Electric motors in the chair make the back recline and the footrest rise with the push of a button on the lifting/reclining remote control. A second button will bring the chair back to the upright position. Continue holding down the retract button and the chair will begin to lift to a standing position. The second controller lets you activate the massage and heat functions. The massage lets you turn on or off vibrations for back, lumbar, thighs, and legs with three different modes and three levels of intensity. The same controller also allows you to activate the heat function in the lumbar area of the back with three levels of heat. Finally, the controller has an automatic shutoff function which can be set to 15, 30, or 60 minutes. In addition to the mechanical functions, The recliner has a padded head rest as well as lumbar support.

The right side of the recliner features a pocket perfect for storing magazines, books, and even the recliner controllers or other controllers. There are also two cupholders, one at the end of each arm. The material covering the recliner is a water-resistant synthetic leather that is very easy to clean.

The XL3 recliner comes in two different colors: black (as shown in the photos) and brown.  It is currently available directly from FlexiSpot as well as from the FlexiSpot store on Amazon and is currently on sale at both sites for only $359.99 and shipping is free. FlexiSpot includes a 3-year warranty on the covering, 2 years on the frame, and 1 year on the motor.

Why You Should Get the FlexiSpot XL3 Power Lift Recliner

If you have been in the market for a recliner, you may have noticed that they come in all price ranges. When I looked at one of the other top brands, I discovered their power lift recliners start at over $1200! The XL3 recliner is just a fraction of that price. I liked that it was simple to assemble. In fact, from opening the boxes to sitting in the recliner only took about 10 minutes. The design is simple yet elegant. The XL3 also does not take up as much room as some other recliners. When people think about power lift recliners, they usually consider them designed for senior citizens. However, the feature that helps the user stand up from the recliner can be useful for younger users who have difficulty getting out of the recliner due to recent surgery, pregnancy, or injury.

As I was trying out the recliner, I liked that when I extend the recliner, the foot rest rises first and then the back reclines. When I want to take a nap, I put it all the way back. However, for watching television while reclined, I like the leg rest extended, but the back not reclined. After looking at recliners that were all over $1000, I was a bit skeptical about a power lift recliner under $400. However, after using the XL3, I am very impressed. My family likes the massage feature and I appreciate the heated lumbar. My daughter and her family recently visited and she loved using the XL3 for nursing my new grandson. If you are in the market for an affordable new power lift recliner that also features heat and massage functions, then I recommend the FlexiSpot XL3 Power Lift Recliner.
