Han Solo and Lando Calrissian might be getting all of the hype this week, but The Last Jedi breakout character Rose Tico is still in our hearts. Rose is a vital part of a ship’s crew, and she’ll be even more handy as a magnet on your fridge, keeping your important papers, homework, and photos safe. Here’s the how-to for making your own.
Step One: Begin by painting the clothespin with the black acrylic paint. Set aside to dry.
Step Two: Cut one circle with the hole punch out of the beige cardstock, and two circles of the black cardstock. Cut a small piece off the top of one black circle; this will be Rose’s bangs.
Step Three: Using one of the circles as a template, trace it on the black cardstock paper. Freehand one side of Rose’s feathery hair with a pencil, and cut it out. Flip it over and trace it as a template, and cut it out so you have two pieces of hair.
Step Four: Cut the bottom of Rose’s bangs so that it also looks fringed.
Step Five: Next, glue the two larger pieces of hair on the sides of Rose’s face, and the bangs on top. Glue the other black circle you cut previously on the other side of her head. Let the glue dry.
Step Six: Stick two small enamel dot stickers on Rose’s face for her eyes. Use the black marker or pen to finish her facial features, such as eyelashes, nose, and smile.
Step Seven: If the twist tie you picked up isn’t blue, use the blue marker to color it. Strip the two ends of the tie so that the wire shows. Thread it through the black clothespin, and twist it on the front side.
Step Eight: Glue Rose’s face just below the wire so that the black part of the clothespin sticks up like her ponytail. Let dry completely.
Step Nine: Flip the clothespin over to the back side, and attach the small magnets. Your Rose Tico magnet is complete!
