GeekMoms’ The Best Board Games of 2013

Since my kids are getting to a point where they can read their own cards and reason, the new game additions in our house this year have been more family focused. These are games GeekMoms (and their families) played and fell in love with in 2013.

Co-Op Game: Pathfinder Adventure Card Game
Pathfinder Adventure Card Game has been written about over on GeekDad. It is a deck-building/role-playing game. It has taken about four months to play through the base set and the first two add-on decks with a campaign group. The third expansion set is now available for order and there are several more coming. The base Pathfinder card game can be purchased for $45, with the additional decks starting at $15.

Dice Game: Roll For It
I love the new Calliope game Roll For It. It’s bright, easy to learn, kids can play it, adults like it, and it fits in my purse. This dice game, for up to four players, has each player rolling dice and matching them to dice pictured on cards for points. You can try the game online, or buy the hard copy for $15.
2013 Competitive Board Game of the Year: Fluxx: The Board Game. Image: looneylabs.
Competitive Board Game: Fluxx The Board Game
This board game adaptation of the popular card game is fun for everyone in the family. GeekMom Sarah wrote about this game in October. If you are a fan of the card game, you can add this board game to your collection for $25.
2013 Party Game of the Year: Schmovie. Image: galacticsneeze.
Party Game: Schmovie
GeekMom Amy previously told us what a hit Schmovie was at Maker Faire New York. This top party game can be found for $30.
2013 Card Game of the Year: Iota. Image: Gamewright.
Card Game: Iota
Yet another family focused game from Gamewright: Iota is another great game to throw in your bag. Score points by lining up different combinations of colors, shapes, and dots. Iota can be added to your collection for $8.17.
2013 Game We Wish We Could Buy: Fallout Equestria. Image: falloutequestria.wikia.
Games We Wish Would Happen: My Little Pony: Fallout Equestria
My Little Pony: Fallout Equestria is a miniatures game with My Little Pony toys painted as Fallout characters. It is a mash-up fan-fic filled game that was always full at GameStorm in March. It. Was. AWESOME.
These were our favorite games in 2013. What were some of yours?
