Boom! 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target

September 15 marks the arrival of Phillip Lim’s highly anticipated collection for Target, and I cannot wait to get my hands on some of these pieces.

The collection has more than 100 items priced from $19.99 to $299.99, including clothes for men and women, plus accessories. But the coolest thing about Lim’s collection is the comics-inspired BOOM print, which appears on a sweatshirt, a sweater dress, and a scarf. It’s a budget version of his super popular Roy Lichtenstein/comics pieces from his regular line.

Lim’s designs are urban and cool, but with enough of a wink that you could totally picture yourself walking down the street in them, pretending to be a character straight out of a spy novel or noir film.

I mean, a bright blue trench?!

Target has wanted to collaborate with Lim for years. When asked why he finally decided to team up with everyone’s favorite big box store, Lim said, “One of the reasons I wanted to collaborate with Target is because I felt that together we could create a collection that would inspire – one that is cool and chic, but still very accessible.”

He hits all the fabulous, geek chic marks here. I so want to put some of these on my holiday wishlist, but with all the buzz this collection is getting they will not last that long. CNBC even put out a strategy guide to help consumers get some of these pieces.
