Wonder Woman Day: Wonder-ful Crafts

If all today’s Wonder Woman posts are inspiring you to add a bit more Wonder Woman into your life then maybe a craft project is just what you need. Whether you’re looking for something you could create in an afternoon or a more long-term project there should be something for everyone here.

One of my hobbies is baking cookies and after spotting this spectacular Wonder Woman design over at Bake at 350 (which you should NOT visit if you are on a diet) I might just have to invest in some new cutters and have a go myself. The shape of the cookies was created by using two different cutters (a bikini top and a baby’s onesie) and some ingenuity to stick them together as one. Some bold and bright food dyes later and I’m feeling hungry…

Cosplay is great but not always practical for everyday wear, and Wonder Woman’s costume is just a little too revealing for the school run. Kaby over at Craftster created a stunning jumper that keeps to the spirit of the original costume going but also keeps you snuggly and warm during chilly weather.

If you’re looking for something even more subtle, this dress by sewing blogger Leila Breton was created using a combination of patterns from Gertie’s New Book for Better Sewing and could be worn to almost anything but team it up with the right accessories and it could still for the base for a retro Wonder Woman costume like this Mad Men style dress.

Another of my hobbies is cross stitch and there are many Wonder Woman patterns available all over the web. Two of my favorites are the Justice League of America patterns from Pixel Power Design and Wee Little Stitches. Both stores also sell superhero alphabet that feature Wonder Woman patterns if you’re looking for a larger project.

Of course all Wonder Women need a tiara and Jaime at Crochet Dynamite has created a pattern for a Wonder Woman tiara that’s actually a running headband. Anything that adds a little style and pizazz as you exercise has to be a good thing.

If knitting and sewing aren’t your thing, how about altering a pair of shoes? Being Geek Chic uploaded a simple tutorial that showed how to convert a cheap pair of flats into a masterpiece using little more than glitter, fabric glue, and patience. It’s a remarkably easy technique that gives stunning results and could easily be modified into thousands of different designs.
