I love making cupcakes and have enough cupcake books that if I made a new batch every day for a year, I think I’d still have plenty left to try. But most of my cupcakes are not as fantastic as the ones created by Jenn Fujikawa of Just Jenn Recipes. I interviewed her on the most recent episode of The GeekMoms Podcast and she talked about how she got started down the path of geeky cupcake greatness.

Jenn didn’t set out to become a baker and wasn’t trained in some fancy school, which should give all of us hope that you don’t need formal training to turn out something that looks amazing. Since she’s always been a geek, her cupcakes ended up themed to things like Star Wars, Skylanders, and Game of Thrones. Although she bakes what people request, on her own she bakes what she loves.

I discovered her a year or so ago when I found her Princess Leia cupcakes online. They were cute, and when I went to her website I was thrilled to see that she had written out step-by-step instructions that anyone could follow. This is the case with all her recipes. She’s not trying to keep everything secret, but wants to share the fun with the rest of us.

You can check out all of Jenn’s recipes on her website, Just Jenn Recipes, and listen to her talk about how she designs her cupcakes and how you can too on the latest GeekMoms Podcast.
