Getting Around To Pinterest Projects

Laura Weldon

Many of us at GeekMom have fallen for Pinterest in a big way. We started with lots of enthusiasm and are still going strong, now with GeekMom boards you can follow.

But the conundrum remains. Pinterest is another time suck in lives already full to the brim. Are we going to find time to do the great projects, recipes, home improvement ideas, and geeky amusements we’ve pinned?

The answer is yes. Pinterest isn’t just eye candy. It motivates us.

Here are a few of the projects that wouldn’t have happened (or wouldn’t have had the same panache) without Pinterest.

Laura Weldon

Laura Grace Weldon:  I’ve vowed to follow through on one Pinterest project a week. Not sure I’ve accomplished that, but so far I’ve tried recipes, made crafts, and used some money-saving ideas from my boards. Penguin appetizers made from olives were a hit.  My family was also intrigued by a pin that described using the roots of green onions to regrow another batch right on the windowsill. It worked!”

Judy Berna:  “I made the MOST amazing homemade donuts this week, from a pin I found at Pinterest. You take refrigerated biscuits and cut a hole in the middle, fry them up in oil on medium heat, roll them in cin/sugar mix and they are to DIE FOR. I am not a donut person, but my family is, and this sounded way too easy…but it worked…and I am now a donut person!”

Kelly Knox: “This is the googly eye picture frame I made for Halloween. I’ve made some wreaths and stuff out of T-shirts from instructions I found on Pinterest, but this frame is my favorite project so far — and my daughter’s too! I love how original and creative it is, and she loves the rattling sound all those googly eyes make.”

Andrea Schwalm: “I’m working on an egg carton flower wreath in one of my groups but we only work on it an hour each week (while talking) so I’m not sure when it will actually be finished.”

Kristen Rutherford: “I now have a board called “Achievement Unlocked: Pinned it/Did it.”

Sarah Pinault: “I have a board called “Pinterest COMPLETED.”

Patricia Vollmer: “I used Pinterest to accumulate ideas for our sons’ Pinewood Derby cars.  This way, my husband could view the board and see instant links to assorted ideas, all in one place!  I’ve also done this for furniture and interior design ideas.”
