Deep under our cities, sewer workers know when the holidays have arrived. How? Because 25 percent more fat is dumped down drains due to Christmas cooking. That grease forms blockages known in the industry as “fatbergs.”
Employees of east London’s Thames Water are doing something about it. Singing a humorous version of the carol Good King Wenceslas, they musically request that customers “please be careful what you flush, down your Yuletide plumbing.”
In addition, with every hit their video gets on You Tube, Thames Water will make a donation to WaterAid.org.
