While at Maker Faire New York, I happened upon this mathematically magical way to cut a bagel, as shown by George Hart of the Museum of Mathematics.

It was a little hard to follow even seeing it in person. Luckily, there are detailed instructions on the Museum of Mathematics website. Here’s a helpful hint: The motion of the knife follows the surface of a two-twist Möbius strip. Of course!

So cut a bagel for someone you love today, because nothing says “I love you” like two intertwined, congruent bagel halves.
