Highly powered writers I respect recently recommended the book Trees, maps, and theorems by Dr. Jean-luc Doumont as a set of coherent recommendations for improving communications, and I am happy to report I can now concur, and I look forward to trying to catch one of his talks on his US tour.

As a science/technical writer, I often hope to write the book, the document, the instructions that rescue someone in particular need. Similarly, I often hope that some book or document will save me, have the juju I need to solve a particular problem.

PONG: Godzilla or Mothra Triumphant in Philly?

Even video game nay-sayers get excited about PONG writ large: the entire side of a skyscraper in Philadelphia will serve as the screen for a PONG tournament in celebration of Philly Tech Week. The 410-foot Cira Centre, which has LEDs embedded all over its glass surface, provided inspiration to Drexel University Gaming Professor Dr. Frank Lee’s vision of a giant game of Tetris there several years ago. After persistence, perseverence, creativity, and collaboration, Dr. Lee’s dream of a giant video game comes to pass as one of the third annual Philly Tech Week events.
