What On Earth Magazine September 2024

The What on Earth! Magazine September 2024 issue has hit the shelves. This month’s cover story is “Blast Off!”

What Is What on Earth! Magazine?

What on Earth! magazine delivers bite-sized chunks of reference-book goodness each month. You have all the interest and rigor you’d expect from a leading publisher of reference books with a topical feel and some extra bits of entertainment thrown in. Many children’s magazines are of limited interest, often having plastic tat attached to their front cover, which is usually broken as fast as the magazine’s content is forgotten.

Not so What on Earth! magazine. It’s perfect for inquisitive children of all ages. Not only does it cover a dazzling array of topics, it also has some great puzzles, jokes, and a child-friendly quiz.

The magazine is available in the UK and Worldwide (including the U.S.) and is available in both physical and digital formats. If you take out a subscription, you’ll make a saving on the cover price.

Why Read What on Earth! Magazine – September 2024?

I’m still playing catch-up from bustling all the children back to school this week, but landing on our doorstep was another excellent issue of What on Earth Magazine. Once again, as well as all the usual informative quizzes, tricky puzzles, and groan-worthy jokes, were pages and pages of fun facts and information.

September’s magazine is a must for space buffs, with 10 pages dedicated to rockets and space travel. From Ancient Greece’s steam pigeons, via WWII V2 rockets and Saturn 5, there are 4 pages devoted to the evolution of the rocket, right up to the SpaceX starship test launches. There is also a detailed explanation of how a rocket works and an infographic comparing rocket sizes over the years. – This has a Statue of Liberty for scale; I’m not sure I have ever quite realized just how big these rockets are.

Beyond the rockets, “The Big Read” this month focuses on the Cold War, there’s a list of the world’s largest islands, and a Factopia trail that takes in both Mr Potato Head and earwax. On top of that, you can take a tour of your teeth, learn the language of marmosets, and catch up on a host of the latest discoveries, inventions, and scientific breakthroughs – did you know that your pupils change shape as you breathe?!

Once again, What On Earth Magazine has delivered. It’s a magazine the whole family can enjoy!

Many thanks to What on Earth Books for sending me copies of the magazine to review.
