Moon Pod’s Lunar Lift Footrest Shines on Its Own, or as Part of the Set

Reviews

Footrests, poufs, ottomans… Whatever you call them, they’re amazing for resting your feet on, sitting on, or using in any number of ways that are convenient and comfortable for your “I can’t be the only one who doesn’t sit ‘normally'” lifestyle. There are plenty of options out there, from stiff and sturdy ones, to softer ones, to downright squishy ones.

I recently had the chance to check out one of the more squishy ones, Moon Pod‘s Lunar Lift footrest, that the company sent me to try. Previously, I reviewed Moon Pod’s original large beanbag-type offering, along with their Crescent item which serves as a backrest and armrests (or it can be used in any number of configurations, as it’s like a giant Boppy for adults—be creative!).

Now, I’ve been able to add Moon Pod’s Lunar Lift footrest to my setup.

The Lunar Lift

The Lunar Lift is filled with and covered by the same materials as come with all their other products, which means the innards conform to your body, the outer cover is strong-but-stretchy, and it comes in multiple colors.

I feel like the Lunar Lift is the last piece of the Moon Pod puzzle, especially if you are the size of an adult. Kids could get by with just a Moon Pod, partly-grown humans might benefit from the addition of the Crescent, but anyone over about 4’6″ may want an extension to rest their feet on. That’s where the Lunar Lift comes in.

Many of the pros and cons of the Lunar Lift are similar to those of the Moon Pod, so check out my previous review of that product.

Pros of the Lunar Lift

The Lunar Lift really completes the Moon Pod collection, allowing my whole body to be supported by cushy beans with no appendage unsure of where to rest. It works well with the other pieces, and adds to your configuration options.

If your budget is tight, you can also just buy the Lunar Lift, and use it as a foot rest when you sit in your office chair or elsewhere. You can also rest your knees on it, cross your legs on it, just put one leg on it, whatever you like. It really expands the options for comfort and flexibility in your daily desk work.

You can also lean against it as a back rest in bed, or use it to prop yourself up for any reason. You can also put a towel or thick blanket over it for a small pet to use as a bed. It can also be a great seat for little kids or those who prefer to sit near the floor. It can also be used as a meditation pillow, or even a booster on the couch.

Cons of the Lunar Lift

There are few cons for this footrest, the only significant one being similar to a con for the other Moon Pod products. There is an initial odor to the item, but it dissipates most of the way after being aired out for a few days, and it eventually goes away.

The Lunar Lift also doesn’t have any side structural integrity, so if you decide to sit on it instead of just rest your feet on it, it behaves like a tiny bean bag, which may be a con in your book. For me, it’s a neutral fact, as I really just use it for my feet and legs.

Being that the fabric is stretchy, it doesn’t have a lot of form. That means that the Lunar Lift often forgets which end is up and which is down, so you may need to reposition it regularly.

The Moon Pod, Crescent, and Lunar Lift, all working together.

Final Thoughts

When I originally received the Moon Pod and Crescent to review, I was bummed to not have gotten to try the Lunar Lift, as my feet just hung off the end or ended up on the floor while sitting on the Moon Pod. I love using the Lunar Lift in conjunction with the other two, as it provides more of a floating sensation—supporting my whole body—and now I use it all in more situations, such as sleeping or just resting or even meditating.

The Lunar Lift is available on the Moon Pod website and retails for $185 but is on sale for $139. They also sometimes have additional sales, so sign up for their mailing list and watch for them!
