Two Fun Artists to Check Out If You Love ‘D&D’

One of my favorite things to do at conventions is checking out the Artist Alley and picking up fun stickers, artwork, or other items from independent artists. We’ve also gifted items picked up from here because they’re unique and not something your geeky friends will just run across in a brick and mortar store either. The only downside is that artists tend to hit certain conventions based on the size of the convention and the proximity to where they call home. Since we’re in Arizona, most of the artists we get to see tend to be from a state that shares a border with us and sometimes as far as Texas. Luckily, thanks to the greater GeekMom community, I have a fair number of Pocket Friends from all over who will often share the work of cool artists they come across in their convention hauls which is how I discovered artists like Karen Hallion (I’ve bought several of her prints).  When I find fun artists I also love sharing them because I know how much that helps independent artists build customer bases. Recently, I’ve come across two more artists who do Dungeons & Dragons based stuff that I’ve ordered from that I would totally recommend checking out.

Storymakers Trading Co

I discovered Storymakers Trading Co when a friend shared a link on Facebook and I realized that there was definitely things I would buy from them. I’ve been doing bullet journaling since 2020, and I also use journals to keep track of the campaigns that I run as the DM which is why things like the vinyl stickers and washi tape were far too tempting to skip.

I ordered the “Dungeon Master flash tattoo style,”  “You Can Certainly Try,” and “Definitely Not a Mimic” stickers. A bonus sticker was also added! Their sticks run at $3 each although the mimic one has a larger option for $5. They barely made it out of the bag before I grabbed my new DM notebook to start decorating. The quality was absolutely solid and I could feel that were made with thick, quality vinyl. I would absolutely buy stickers from them again including additional copies of these ones. Since I do journaling, I also couldn’t resist the call of the washi tape. I was particularly drawn to a three pack that they offer with the following designs: “Fantasy Map,” “Adventure Quotes,” and “Adventure Banners.” I’m already using “Fantasy Map” and “Adventure Quotes” for my March journal theme and there’s enough tape in both of those rolls that I will have lots left over for additional months. The “Adventure Banners” I’m actually using for headers in my DM campaign book. The three pack runs for $12 and the individual rolls are $5 each. Paola’s Pixels

Paola’s Pixels is an artist I came across because there are times that the Facebook advertisement algorithms score a critical hit. A lot of her artwork is designed around various D&D character classes (although she also includes a Game Master option for those forever DMs and GMs). Some of her other similarly themed stuff includes things like owlbears (owlbears!!!). This time I went for the stickers and washi tape again, but she has a lot of other items that are claiming spots on my wishlist.

This time I went for some of the sticker sheets with the intention of using specifically in my journal.  I grabbed the Rogue themed ones for $5 (my playing class of choice) and  the newer “What the Bag is Holding?” set for $6 (the little designs are so cute). They are going to look so awesome in my journal. I also added the Animal Party sticker pack for $11 and the Game Master Window Sticker for $3.50. The Game Master sticker is absolutely going on my campaign book as well as several Animal Party ones (I run Animal Adventures for one of my groups so I have a soft spot for animals as D&D characters). The rest of the Animal Adventure ones will be used in my journal. Again, thick vinyl that makes quality stickers, there was also a bonus backpack style sticker added.

What I really love as someone who does journaling is that there is matching washi tape for “Animal Party” and “What is the Bag Holding?” They run at $4.50 and $5.50 respectively  (gold foil costs more). I’m crazy excited to create cool layouts with them, there’s a lot of washi tape on the roll, and I will absolutely be back to buy more.
