Watch This: Full Trailer for ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ Movie With Lots of Familiar Faces

Reading Time: 1 minute

This post is in partnership with Paramount Pictures.

It’s been said that a hero is only as good as the villain they must overcome. So, getting Jim Carrey to play Dr. Robotnik in the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movie may be the master stroke we didn’t see coming. It really looks like they’re letting Carrey be his classic 90s-era madcap self. But the inclusion of genre-favorite actors like James Marsden and Neil McDonough makes this even more of a can’t-miss geek-family movie (who doesn’t want to see the Riddler, Scott Summers, and Dum-Dum Dugan/Damien Darhk mix it up?). Ben Schwartz, who has been doing great voice work on Duck Tails and Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles lately is bringing the mischievous and sarcastic Sonic to animated life.

SONIC THE HEDGEHOG is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega that centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
