Each year, readers and reviewers of science fiction romance give out the SFR Galaxy Awards for the best in science fiction romance
The SFR Galaxy Award are given by a community not much recognized in either romance or science fiction writing circles aka, the reaction to SFR tends to be:. “Ew, you got your chocolate in my peanut butter!” “Ew, you got your peanut butter in my chocolate!”
But when SFR is done well, with a satisfying romance and wonderful SF world-building, it’s my favorite genre, hands-down. (Yes, yes, I love Reeses Peanut Butter cups too.)
These awards are not your average awards, ranging from “Best Steampunk Transport” to “Hottest Queer Sci-Fi in a Superhero Universe” to “Meow It Again, Sam.”
My own superhero action-adventure romance, the Phoenix Institute series, won the Galaxy Awards a few years back, for “Best Superhero Origin.”
The full list of 2018 award winners is below, complete with links for purchase, but I highly recommend you check out the link in the first paragraph which discuss why these particular awards were chosen (just what is that best steampunk transport?) elaborating on why a particular book received a particular award.
(Alas, Pets in Space 3 and it’s two earlier volumes are not available in that format any longer.)
