Louisville SuperCon 2018 Recap

Louisville SuperCon 2018

The folks at SuperCon–who have been in the pop culture convention business since 2006–loaded up and brought the circus to Kentucky for the inaugural Louisville SuperCon on Friday, November 30 through Sunday, December 2. Why Louisville? According to SuperCon co-founder Sandy Martin, a Louisville native:

“I think a lot of people have personal stories about their pop culture heroes. The
stories remind us of who we are and what we hope to become. For me, Supercon is a huge
festival that connects people to those stories and to each other. Especially now, when we’re so often sucked into our phones, Supercon gets us into a creative zone that brings us together.”

The convention featured a number of celebrity and creator guests, including John Wesley Shipp (also a Louisville native), Academy Award winner Richard Dreyfuss, rocker Alice Cooper, Henry Winkler, William Shatner, and many more. Among the SuperCon staples that made the trip were Fantasy Super Cosplay Wrestling, which is exactly what and exactly as wild as you’d think. Additional program included a myriad of panels and workshops–including a panel by GeekDad contributors Joey Mills and Gerry Tolbert–artists, exhibitors, cosplay competitions, celebrity Q&As, photo ops, burlesque shows, ticket-holder parties, and more.
