I didn’t have a comic shop anywhere near where I grew up. But I was a kid of the 90s and I did have X-Men: The Animated Series on Saturday mornings. I sat with my bowl of Kix cereal while lounging in my jammies and I discovered comic book heroes in the way that was accessible to me.
Now I’m 31 and I draw comics. That’s not at all where I saw myself at 7 years old; watching social issues discussions in Saturday morning cartoon form on a scratchy rug.
“To have an idea is the easiest thing in the world. Everybody has ideas. But you have to take that idea and make it into something people will respond to — that’s hard.” – Stan Lee
Thanks. Just … thanks.
