Our Convention Connection for Week 38 2018 starts with MegaCon Tampa Bay 2018. If you didn’t pick it up in the name, the event will be held in Tampa Bay, Florida (surprise!) on Friday, September 21 through Sunday, September 23. As expected at these general geek culture conventions, MegaCon Tampa Bay features celebrity guests like Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Peter Capaldi, comic creators like Amanda Conner, Jimmy Palmiotti, and Francesco Francavilla, voice and anime actors, cosplayers, gaming, exhibitors, autograph and photo opportunities, and more. This year’s event includes a Harry Potter themed escape room, and convention exclusive merchandise like a paint it yourself Bob Ross Funko Pop!

Wizard World Comic Con Austin: Austin, Texas; Friday, September 21 through Sunday, September 23
Great Falls Comic Expo: Lewiston, Maine; Saturday, September 22
Uticon 2018: Utica, New York; Sunday, September 23
Anime Weekend Atlanta runs from Thursday, September 20 through Sunday, September 23 in Atlanta, Georgia. The event includes a manga library, video art, anime viewing, tabletop gaming, video gaming, artists alley, cosplay, and more. Friday night features a black tie dinner and formal ball for VIPs, while Saturday night festivities include the cosplay contest and rave.

Camp Anime 2018: Woodstock Valley, Connecticut; Friday, September 21 through Sunday, September 23
RamenCon 2018: South Bend, Indiana; Friday, September 21 through Sunday, September 23
Senshi Con 2018: Anchorage, Alaska; Friday, September 21 through Sunday, September 23
The Festival in the Forest is a live action D&D gaming event held in Hinckley, Ohio from Friday, September 21 through Sunday, September 23. Attendees camp on-site and interact with various “Live NPCs” over the weekend as DMs lead them through the adventure. Friday and Saturday evenings, attendees can gather at the Forest Inn and Tavern for food, drink, storytelling, entertainment, and more.

Minefaire 2018: Sacramento, California; Saturday, September 22 and Sunday, September 23
Toy Con Indiana 2018: Highland, Illinois; Sunday, September 23
For a unique convention experience, The Sci-Fi Sea Cruise 2018 departs from Seattle, Washington on Friday, September 21 and returns to port on Friday, September 28, with port calls in Astoria, Oregon; San Francisco, California; and Victoria, British Columbia. Attendees will travel on Royal Caribbean’s “Explorer of the Seas.” Guests include Doctor Who‘s Wendy Padbury and Frazier Hines, and actors Jon Davey and Tim Dane Reid.
