Annually, The Toy Insider runs a mid-year toyapalooza for influencers and press to let them interact with the hottest new items for the second half of the year. Similar to ToyFair, the Sweet Suite focuses on talking about, and playing with, the newest products on the market.
Sure, we all love toys. But fandom toys tend to rock my socks the most. Of the advertised attendees, I really loved the Harry Potter items available the most. Technology has brought the magic alive in ways none of us could have expected back in the good ol’ days. Ok, those good ol’ days were like ten years ago, but still.
The new training wands from Jakks are basically amazeballs. As you can see, I could have played with these all day.
However, if you want some really amazing technology to boot, you need to check out the Wow! Stuff snitch. Truthfully, this motorized Mystery Flying Snitch was pretty much all the buzz at the event.
Unfortunately, despite going on a Deathly Hallows level quest, I couldn’t find the alleged Harry Potter action figures anywhere.
I’m a sucker for stuff animals, always and forever. However, Gund will always hold a special place in my heart. Celebrating its 120th anniversary this year, the company is going all out with new products and a special anniversary edition of its beloved and iconic Snuffles the Bear.
No matter what anyone says? You’re never going to beat a good Snuffles in my book. I even discuss it a lot on the video that I remember growing up and wanting the bears so much, but they were a little out of our price range. Getting to see them still around and still as squishable is a tangible memory coming back to life.
By the time we got to the Wicked Cool Toys booth, I was running out of new angles for coverage. I’ll be honest though, it’s amazing how you can turn a Pokeball and stuffed Pokemon into a hands-on physics experiment.
Fan and family favorite Hasbro didn’t disappoint this year either.
Thames and Kosmos brought some amazing science-based games with it this year. However, more importantly, the kids really enjoyed it. While I was interviewing the company, two kids came over wanting to try out a game. In my book, kids always get firsties over grownups at these things.
I’m glad I let them try it since I got to see first hand how much fun kids could have with a learning strategy game.
Yes, a few weeks after the official Sweet Suite event, a big ol’ box of awesome showed up on my doorstep. Below, you can see the unboxing done by GeekKid L, watch the video clip below.
