Many kids will be heading back to school by the end of the month, and so it’s time to do a bit of shopping for supplies, both for our kids themselves, as well as to help out the teachers who so often have to spend their own money on materials to teach our kids. According to a New York Times analysis of a Department of Education study, “94 percent of public school teachers in the United States reported paying for supplies without reimbursement,” and teachers who reported spending their own money on supplies shelled out $479 each on average.” So, until things get better for teachers, every parent needs to lend a hand to the people who help educate our kids, but we can save a little money while we’re doing it!
