‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ Is the Distraction You Need Right Now

After all the heartbreak of Avengers: Infinity War and, let’s face it, the current news cycle, wouldn’t it be nice to step back and enjoy a couple hours of pure escapism? Ant-Man and the Wasp is a fun movie, set prior to the events of Infinity War. Mild spoilers follow. You’ve been warned.

Our beloved ex-felon hero Scott (Paul Rudd) begins the movie under house arrest with the Hope/the Wasp (Evangeline Lilly) and her father on the lamb. The team eventually reunites to rescue Hope’s mother, who you may remember from the first Ant-Man movie was lost to the Quantum Realm. Their plan may be foiled by the FBI, by the criminal underground, or by the mysterious new villain, Ghost. Maybe Ant-Man and the Wasp have just too many trust issues. Or it could just fail because it is dangerous and technically impossible.

Now, if you want to be completely free of Infinity War‘s aftermath, you should leave before the two post-credits scenes roll out, but, in general, this is a great family movie for all ages. My screening was in 3D,  but there’s no reason this wouldn’t be equally enjoyable in 2D.

Ant-Man and the Wasp opens on July 5th.
