You already know that Baby Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is adorable, but nothing will prepare you for how adorable he is in the Marvel Press picture book Night Night, Groot. Written by Brendan Deneen and illustrated by Cale Atkinson, the cute picture book expertly balances an action-packed superhero tale with a soothing bedtime story.
The day is done, and it’s time for little Baby Groot to head to bed. But he’s got a few last baddies to round up before he can settle in for the night. Groot’s not alone, of course: The Guardians always have his back! He’s also joined by The Avengers, so you know those bad guys will be taken care of in no time.
Perfect for preschoolers and young readers, the bright, cartoonish illustrations are beyond cute, but also pack a punch. Older readers (including parents) will love spotting all of the Marvel characters you don’t usually see in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, like Moon Knight and Red Hulk. There are also Easter Eggs to be found, like a tiny Ant-Man hiding in quite a few pages.
Night Night, Groot is the perfect bedtime story after an exciting day filled with adventure.
But you don’t have to take my word for it. (I’ve always wanted to say that.) Here is Gamora herself, Zoe Saldana, reading Night Night, Groot.
