If you’re ever in LA this time of year (and I am fortunate to be most years), make a note to put the FIDM Annual Art of Motion Picture Costume Design exhibit on your list. But if you have the chance this year, it’s even more of a geek heaven than usual.
In past years, I’ve only occasionally been lucky enough to see a costume I’d like to recreate included in the show. Even when that’s not the case, it’s always wonderful to see such great work from costumers I admire. This year’s exhibit, though? A cosplayer’s dream. Movies featured include Batman v Superman, Doctor Strange, Suicide Squad, Rogue One, Star Trek Beyond, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, and Alice Through the Looking Glass. And because the previous year’s Oscar winner is traditionally included, you can also see Furiosa and Max’s costumes from Mad Max: Fury Road.
This year’s exhibit runs through April 22, and admission is free. The museum is located at 919 S. Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, CA. If you can’t make it, you can enjoy a bit of it through our gallery here:
