It was only a matter of time, but those lovable creatures from the Despicable Me franchise are finally getting their own full-length feature film! Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment just announced that Minions will be coming to theaters on July 10, 2015.
Apparently, the Minions are not exclusive to the sometimes-evil Gru. Minions will introduce viewers to the history of our little yellow friends, as well as some of their despicable masters.
The Minions live to serve, but the masters? Well, they don’t seem to make out as well. However, without that purpose, the Minions fall into a funk. However, Minion Kevin seems to have a plan, which involves fellow Minion Bob and a teenager named Stuart. It also involves potential master and female super-villain Scarlet Overkill (voiced by Sandra Bullock).
Jon Hamm, Michael Keaton, and Alison Janney are also listed in the trailer, although their parts aren’t clear at this point. What is clear is that the film will include exotic locations, action, and a soundtrack that stretches from the 1960s to today. It also has plenty of Minions, which usually translates into plenty of laughs. If you’re not sure whether these little guys can carry a whole movie, check out the first Minions trailer below.
Then, look for Minions in 2D and 3D theaters next summer!
