First Trailer for Disney’s Saving Mr. Banks

Mary Poppins is a beloved movie, but the long-running book series is even more special to some. It was especially sacred to writer P.L. Travers. So how and why did the Disney-fied version come about? The House of Mouse seems to be spilling some of the beans in the upcoming film, Saving Mr. Banks.

According to the trailer above, bringing those classic characters to the big screen was more of a nightmare than a fairytale. At least, some parts of it were. Tom Hanks certainly sprinkles in some magic by taking on the role of Walt Disney and Emma Thompson — well, she’s taking on Disney, as Travers.

You’re going to want to take a peek at the trailer, because it looks really good. It doesn’t hurt that the John Lee Hancock (The Blind Side) film is bursting with famous faces, including Colin Farrell, Paul Giamatti, Jason Schwartzman, Bradley Whitford, Annie Rose Buckley, Ruth Wilson, B.J. Novak, Rachel Griffiths and Kathy Baker.

Of course, this is probably just the first of many teases that we’ll get before the film hits theaters this winter. Expect to see a limited release starting December 13, with Saving Mr. Banks going wide on December 20.
