Kids Need Some Summer Fun? Maker Camp Launches Today!

Summer is here. It’s always a challenge to find activities for the kids if parents work, and resources for getting kids around town are limited, or none of the local offerings are interesting. Well, there’s one more exciting choice available, starting today: Maker Camp!

Maker Camp is a 6-week virtual summer camp for anyone interested in DIY, making, creating, crafting, hacking, tinkering, and discovery. It’s free and it starts on July 8! Join us for 30 days and 30 projects. We’ll post projects and activities, and use Hangouts to visit cool places and meet interesting makers. To join Maker Camp, just follow +Make on Google+ and then join the Maker Camp Community. Each morning, we’ll post a project and let you know what materials you’ll need. Then Maker Camp Hangouts begin at 11am (PDT) / 2pm (EDT). We’ll introduce you to an accomplished maker and walk you through the daily project–with tips, tricks, and others ideas to try. And each week will wrap up with our ever-popular Field Trip Friday!

Each week has it’s own theme, starting today with “Makers in Motion.” If you want to join in on the projects, there will be material lists available at the Maker Camp website, or you can try to find a local Maker Camp Super-Affiliate running their own branch of Maker Camp in person. So, if you and your kids need some fun, hands-on projects to tackle this summer, check out Maker Camp!
