Booyakasha! TMNT Lego Sets

Lego and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are familiar words in my house. When we can combine them into one fun activity, we are one very happy little family.

The first set we checked out was Shredder’s Dragon Bike. This set comes with Shredder (of course) and Donatello, complete with bow staff and other weapons. My husband built this one and my son put it through its paces on every surface in our house. Thankfully, the wheels didn’t leave any marks and my son had a blast playing, rolling it around and making it chase one of his other cars.

The largest of the Turtles collection is the Sewer Lair (aka Turtle Lair Attack). This one I was tasked with building, alongside my son. Since he has ADHD, getting him to patiently sit and put something this big together can be a challenge. I encouraged him to help, even in a small way, if he wanted to play with it later. He decided to give me the pieces I need for each step and it worked out pretty well.

Before starting, I recommend you look over all the instruction books, so you start with the right bag. They say to start with one bag (I think it’s bag one), when really you should start with the next bag in the series. The first bag they have you put together is mostly small parts that fit inside the main attraction.

It took me about forty-five minutes to put it together and I was proud of it in the end. The pizza oven and skateboard ramps are my favorite parts. Both Leonardo and Raphael have their own boards to skate around on. Of course, Master Splinter comes with this set too, and remember what he said about skateboarding in the lair?

Both sets are a lot of fun to put together and play with afterwards. The Turtles’ lair has a lot of little accessories that you can take out and play with by themselves and then store in the set later.
