Quick, what object matches on those two cards? I got it, it’s a heart! Oh wait, someone else beat me to it, matching a skull and crossbones before I could put my card down.
This is what the gameplay was like for my kids and me, playing Spot It! together. Spot It! consists of cards with objects and shapes on them, with any two cards having exactly one object in common, though the object might be a different size. Spot the common object to play the game. It’s harder than you’d think. Even I had difficulty spotting the matching shapes, and my daughter trounced us in the first game. I got much better with practice.
Regardless of the rules by which you play, the basic object of the game is to be the fastest person to spot the common symbol. The winner can be decided by any method you devise. The included game rules have names such as The Tower and The Poisoned Gift, but the cards are so versatile that it is easy to make up your own versions.
Spot It! retails for $13.99. My family loved this fast-paced game! It is aimed at players age 7 to adult, for two to eight players. All of the games from Blue Orange are made to last a long time. We already owned some other Blue Orange games, including Bendomino and Gobblet Gobblers, and my son recently added Sumoku to his birthday wish list.
Note: I received a copy of Spot It! for review purposes.
