The Feel Bad Movie of Christmas: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Trailer

For all you Stieg Larsson fans, the wait is soon over!  This week Sony Pictures released their The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo “green band” trailer (after a “red band” version made its way through the internet about a week prior…good luck finding it now).  A December 21st release date has been announced.

A 2009 Swedish version of the film based on the bestselling book exists — it’s in my Netflix queue actually — but this is for the American-made film, and has an incredible all-star cast!

We GeekMoms were swooning over Daniel Craig, Stellan Skarsgard, Julian Sands and Christopher Plummer*.

I think Lisbeth Salander is one of the coolest heroines in modern literature…and she certainly gets her geek on with her photographic memory and hacker skills.  Having read the book last fall, it was fun watching the familiar glimpses of the story brought to life in the trailer.  I also need to get going on the next two books in the series: The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest.

*NOTE: Most of us swooned at Christopher Plummer circa The Sound of Music years.  But I warn you that he’s playing the very elderly patriarch of the Vanger family and I caught a glimpse of his character with tubes in his nose, so he might not be so swoon-worthy now.
