Make Your Own Harry Potter Masterpiece with Kodak Design Gallery Software DVDs

As we described last week, the Kodak Design Gallery Software is a fun and affordable way to get ready for the premiere of the new Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 movie, coming out July 15. This week, I’ve made a project without a template, starting with a blank slate. With that blank slate, I created a flyer advertising the start of the school year at Hogwarts. I was very pleased with how it turned out printed on the Kodak ESP C310 All-in-One printer.

While I made this project with the original Kodak Design Gallery DVD, I also played around with the Kodak Design Gallery Software featuring Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows™ Part 2, which is new for the upcoming movie release. It has the same kind of interface, but with some organizational changes to make it easier to use. There are also many of the same elements as the first DVD and all the same functionality, but with some new scenes and pictures, and other new graphics. There is also a new feature where you can choose to hide any of the “Good” or “Evil” elements, if you are focusing on a particular kind of project. If you are all about Hermione, for example, you could hide the Evil elements.

Playing around with these beautiful graphical elements makes me want more Harry Potter themed products for grown ups. Desktop themes like having a wand for a cursor, Gringott’s for a file structure, and Hogwarts as the Internet. Who’s with me?

But I digress.

The Design Your Own Masterpiece option has all of the same options as the Collectible Card project, except that you have a full, undivided page to work with, and there aren’t any examples to print out or study. Your imagination can do what it likes here.

This a fantastic project in which to let your creativity loose. You can make letterhead, collages, flyers, or anything that strikes your fancy. This blank slate option doesn’t restrict your creative impulses. Make flyers to hand out for your own Free the House Elves campaign, design a game board with Harry Potter themed pieces, or make a sign to sell butterbeer from your front yard instead of lemonade. The ideas just come so readily when you have these kinds of tools at your disposal.
