Dora and Her Backpack

Is Dora secretly a D&D character?

You can find geeky references in just about anything. And that includes children’s programming!

My daughter adores Dora the Explorer so we watch a lot of it from DVD’s to straight from TV.  Now Dora’s Backpack always struck me as odd. It seems to eat everything that is put into it, therefore it seems like when Dora takes something out that means Backpack is regurgitating it. Plus it talks both in English and Spanish.

Well we were watching an episode were Dora gets out oars out of Backpack and it struck me. Backpack is totally a bag of holding! I found this amusing and shared my thought on Facebook which lead to a discussion of how it is also intelligent so it was wondered by a friend what Backpack’s ego rating would be.

I think if I ever get a chance to play in a D&D campaign again, I may make a Dora based character just to be silly!

Do you ever find geeky references in mundane things?
