Theme parks up and down the UK are preparing for the Halloween season with special Halloween events lined up throughout October. Whether you have little ones looking for not-so-spooky fun, or teens wanting to be terrified at every turn, there’s something for everyone. We’ve collected the facts about the various Halloween events at every major UK park so you can pick which one is best for your family to visit this year.
Alton Towers – Scarefest
Dates: 5-6th, 12-13th, 18th October – 3rd November
Suitable for: All: different events for young kids, families, teens, and adults
What’s On?
Alton Towers brings back its annual Scarefest Halloween events. Young kids and families can visit a Halloween playland, join in the CBeebies Monster Ball, and participate in a flash mob with the Alton Ancestors on Towers St. Adults and teens can walk through four scare mazes: Terror of the Towers, Darkest Depths (suitable for ages 8+), Project 42, Sub Species: The End Games, and Altonville Mine Tours. Additionally, the Alton Towers Dungeon will be open for those aged 10+, while rides will be open after dark for those brave enough to ride. Make sure to head to Hex, Thirteen, and Duel to add to your Halloween experience.
Cost: Standard park admission covers rides after dark while the Alton Towers Dungeon and scare mazes have additional charges.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach – Vampire Pleasure Beach, Journey to Hell, & Nick or Treak
Dates: 12th – 31st October

What’s On?
Blackpool Pleasure Beach has numerous Halloween events and activities running for the season. Vampire Pleasure Beach will see roaming actors in the park and give you the opportunity to join in with pumpkin carving, while on October 26th, the park will stay open after dark for late night riding with creatures partying in the park, a free Vampire Blood Slush for those over 18 attending in full fancy dress, and fireworks. Scream Screen open-air drive-in cinema will be showing a number of horror movies including The Conjuring, Saw, Hocus Pocus, and The Exorcist for six nights leading up to Halloween itself, and over in Nickelodeon Land, Nick characters will be dressed up for the season ready to go “Nick or Treating”.
The big feature for Halloween is Journey to Hell Freak Nights where victims aged 13 and up will be led through scare zones including, “Ouiji Paranormal, The Scare Maze, Underground Horror Tunnels, The S&M Arena, the fearful ICON & Pasaje Del Terror.”
Cost: Vampire Pleasure Beach, Nick or Treat, and late-night riding are included with standard admission on select dates. Scream Screen and Journey to Hell Freak Nights require separate tickets.

Chessington World of Adventures – Howl’O’Ween
Dates: 12th October – 3rd November
Suitable for: Families, particularly those with young children
What’s On?
At this year’s Howl’O’Ween at Chessington World of Adventures, you’ll be able to ride the park’s brand new attraction Spyders and brave a tour through Creepy Caves Unearthed to discover why the reptile and creepy crawly house at the zoo closed its doors. The whole family can head over to the Haunted Howl’O’Ween live show and take a walk through Trick or Treat Wood before riding the park’s attractions after dark on select nights. Remember too that Chessington is home to the Room on the Broom walk-through attraction based on the book by Julia Donaldson and the spooky Vampire rollercoaster.

Drayton Manor – More Treat Than Trick
Dates: 19th – 31st October

Flamingo Land Resort – Halloween Half Term
Dates: 14th October – 3rd November
Suitable for: Families with young children.
What’s on?
Little information released so far but expect twilight riding, fancy dress competitions, fireworks, and the opportunity to explore Peter Rabbit’s Pumpkin Trail and watch the Fear Fest Live show.

Gulliver’s Parks – Monster Mania
Dates: 26th October – 1st November
Suitable for: Families with young children.
What’s On?
Little information released so far regarding Monster Mania but you will have the opportunity to meet and greet owls at the Owl Encounter and meet the characters from the movie Uglydolls.

Legoland Windsor – Brick or Treat
Dates: 17th October – 2nd November
Suitable for: Families
What’s On?
During Brick or Treat, hosted by Lord Vampyre, kids will be able to follow the Brick or Treat trail around the park, build a Lego or Duplo pumpkin to be added to the park’s pumpkin patch, participate in a costume competition, and join in a dance party with the Monster Rockers, as well as checking out the world’s smallest pumpkin patch over in Miniland. Some night will see fireworks in the evenings and you’ll also be able to explore the Creepy Cobweb Castle and ride the Spinning Spider, and the brand new Haunted House Monster Party attraction.

Lightwater Valley – Frightwater Valley
Dates: 26th October – 31st October
Suitable for: All: different events for young kids, families, teens, and adults
What’s On?
Little kids and families can enjoy the Spooky Character Meet and Greets, Scary Magic Shows, and Trick or Treat Doors along with a fancy dress competition while teens and adults can head into the live scare maze. In the evening, everyone can enjoy evening firework shows on select nights.

Paulton’s Park – Spooktacular Halloween
Dates: 26th October – 31st October

What’s On?
During Spooktacular Halloween, Peppa Pig World will be decorated for the season and little guests can meet Peppa and George in their Halloween outfits before watching The Legend of Paultons Manor stage show and visiting the Big Boo Barn. On select nights the park will open late to allow riders to experience attractions in the dark, and guests can participate in the Freaky Fancy dress competition before ending their day at the Little Monsters Ball.

Thorpe Park – Fright Nights
Dates: 28th September – 3rd November

What’s On?
Thorpe Park has gone all out for this year’s Fright Nights with eight horror mazes and scare attractions as part of the event including two themed around The Walking Dead and a third around The Blair Witch Project. Guests can experience Platform 15, Screamplex Cinema, The Walking Dead: Living Nightmares, The Walking Dead: Do or Die, Blair Witch, Creek Freak Massacre, and Terror at Amity High included with their standard admission, while the Containment escape room experience requires an extra ticket. You can also choose to take on the Feared Five Challenge by riding five of the park’s scariest attractions after dark, and remember that Thorpe Park is a permanent home to plenty of scares that will add to your Halloween experience, including The Walking Dead: The Ride, Derren Brown’s Ghost Train, and Saw: The Ride.

Twin Lakes – Family Scream Park
Dates: 18th October – 31st October
Suitable for: Families with young children.
What’s On?
Throughout the day, guests will be able to join in with free pumpkin carving/painting, finding ghosts and ghouls in a family Halloween hunt, and watching the Halloween circus. For an additional charge, kids can visit Fruity the Forgetful Witch’s Wagon for a Halloween experience ending with a small treat.
Admission: Standard admission covers most Halloween events and activities except visiting Fruity the Forgetful Witch.
