MegaCon Comes to Tampa Bay 2018
MegaCon Tampa Bay 2018 Starts This Weekend

September in Florida means average temperatures between 88 F and 91 F. This makes September a marvelous month for swimming and partaking in water sports and yet, Tampa Bay will still be the coolest place to be September 21st through 23rd. That’s because MegaCon Tampa Bay 2018 starts September 21st.

“Every year we’re delighted to deliver the ultimate fan experience and star power people wait year round for,” said FAN EXPO HQ Vice President Andrew Moyes. “This year with MEGACON Tampa Bay, we’re bringing the hottest names to the lineup alongside exciting programming for people of all ages.”

Whether you are a Star Wars Fan, A Potterhead, or a Geek of Multi-Fandoms; MegaCon Tampa Bay offers something for everyone.

With programming highlights that include a Harry Potter Escape Room, a series of Star Wars-themed events, the Back to the Future DeLorean time machine, and an All-Star Voice Actor Live Script reading, this year promises to be the best year yet.

Star Wars Makes The World A Better Place

Anyone who is familiar with the 501st Legion, know they represent all that is good and beautiful about Star Fandom. The people that makeup one of the greatest fan organizations in the world do so much good that even the Jedi are jealous.

These Stormtroopers provide not only a truly stunning and elaborate booth but all kinds of fun photo opportunities for all ages throughout the weekend. Stop by and make a donation to the Make A Wish Foundation. Aside from the satisfaction of touching lives with your donation, you can “Blast A Stormtrooper” in their on-site Nerf gun range! Maybe you can teach those Stormtroopers how to be more accurate. I’m kidding – but really make this a stop on your weekend adventure. You will not regret it.

Star Trek TNG is 25 Years Old

I can believe it’s over a quarter of a century since Star Trek: The Next Generation first introduced us to the unapologetic and intensely caring Captain Picard and his incredibly diverse and relatable crew. The series was one of my absolute favorites as a child and touched the lives of an entire generation. Set a century after the original series took place, this series ran from 1987 to 1994. MegaCon Tampa Bay is bringing the magic of TNG right to you with stars Michael Dorn, who played the Klingon character Lieutenant Worf, and Marina Sirtis, who portrayed the half-Betazoid empath Counselor Deanna Troi. Worf’s passion, honesty, and sense of honor is legend and where would the Enterprise be without the gentle compassion and counsel of Troi?

MegaCon Tampa Bay offers you both photo and autograph opportunities with two of the series best-loved characters.

Can You Escape

Be sure to hit up one of two Harry Potter Escape Room scenarios while you are at MegaCon Tampa Bay. Can you make it out of a vault in the Wizarding Bank? What about passing a very mixed up NEWT exam for potions? Test your skills and enjoy matching your wits against these family-friendly puzzles!

Have Some Fun After Hours

Next head over to The Sail bar and restaurant located for a free mixer.

Located on the Tampa’s famous Riverwalk it’s a short walk with a great view from the Convention Center. Meet up with fellow fans on Saturday, September 23 at 7:00 PM. Make friends, enjoy cold drinks, and good food. There will be fun photo ops with some amazing cosplayers as well as great music! Soak up the good vibes in a beautiful waterfront setting with people just like you. Best of all no tickets required for this mixer!

For The Family

MegaCon Tampa Bay features family-friendly activities including the Family Zone.

This area will offer fun-filled activities perfect for the whole family. While this isn’t a daycare service (seriously, you must stay with your children at all times), there will be free crafts, and entertainment as well as costumed characters for your kids to enjoy. This is a great place to take a load off between panels and let the kids have a load of fun plus make friend with other mini-con goers. MegaCon is looking out for that next generation of fans because they know that cons are more fun when the whole family is happy.
