What is Atmar’s Cardography?
Have you ever wanted your own pocket dungeon? As a GM, wouldn’t it be nice to generate a unique dungeon on the fly? Are you tired of modules that all your players have already read and played? Then Creature Curation and Norse Foundry have got you covered. They collaborated to bring you a 52 card deck that is a full module and dungeon generator that fits in your pocket.
What’s In The Box?
Each Cardography deck is the same size as a standard poker deck, and contains 52 different cards. Instead of Jacks, and Queens, these cards have rooms, tunnels, or traps and they can be configured in countless ways. Each deck comes with a booklet that lists the contents of each dungeon card. Each Deck is set in a different region of Brian Colin’s fantasy world Revilo. These decks are designed to introduce roleplayers old and new to this vast world rich with incredible creatures and it’s own pantheon of Gods.
Included with each deck is a solid amount of online content to ensure that you can enjoy them with your favorite D20 tabletop RPG. With each deck, you receive 5 new monsters from Revilo converted to 5th edition D&D, Fate, and soon D20 3.5. You will also receive access to a Full PDF module that contain in-depth descriptions and narrative for each room, as well as an overarching story. The module for each deck is unique to that deck so the more deck you own the more you have to explore.
The Kickstarter
Creature Curation has partnered with Norse Foundry to create a series of dungeon crawl modules in a deck of cards. The first two decks, The Fiery Pits and The Icy Divide have already been printed. This Kickstarter is making it possible for three new ones to be published.
You may recognize the name Norse Foundry. Anyone who really enjoys gaming is familiar with Norse Foundry’s highly-crafted metal, natural stone, and natural mineral dice, as well as their beautiful, high quality minted coins. This collaboration with skilled sculptor Brian Colin, whom we recently featured in Con Artists promises incredible experiences for roleplayers of all levels and ages. You can pre-order one, three, or all five decks through their current Kickstarter.
These decks can be used with existing RPGs like FATE and D&D 5th edition or you can use them with the D20 game of choice if you don’t mind doing the conversion yourself. Each deck comes with a booklet that lists the contents of each dungeon card so you can play it straight, or add to their contents and use them embellish your campaign. The part I like best – no empty rooms. You can make them empty as any good GM knows but having a ready made contents list is great for quick Saturday afternoon campaign with friends or family.

Discover Revilo
We learned a bit about Revilo in talking with Brian for our Con Artists Series. Brian realized that he wanted to build a world that his son, Wyatt, could enjoy and one day help him build. Revilo was conceptualize just before Wyatt’s birth and is named for him. Wyatt’s middle name is Oliver. Revilo is Oliver spelled backward.
“The pantheon of gods started with the original god Creedona and her sister Ghyrma. After Creedona created the world, she grew lonely and created her six children: Anaxygosal, Solleel, the Embreson, Scintilliam, Viredith, and Corsuvine. Ghyrma, who always tried to follow behind her sister, found it impossible to be in so many places at once, and so she sired her own child, the Veil.
There was a large battle among the gods as the world became more inhabited by intelligent species. When the battle was over, Creedona forced all of the gods into hibernation, including her niece the Veil. The Veil is the god of darkness, shadows, and night. After being magically confined to the forest, the Veil became a large gaping mouth on the forest floor. She has used her powers to create Unliving servants. They bring any who wander into the Forest of the Dead directly to her.
The Valley of Despair got its unfortunate name from being surrounded by the evil Forest of the Dead. Its inhabitants were trapped for so long that their natural resources were depleted, and despair was rampant throughout the valley. It wasn’t until a very imaginative Groblynn invented a way to tunnel under the Forest that the Valley began to thrive again. They kept the name as a reminder to always be thankful for what they have.”
Wyatt has been very influential in Revilo, particularly in relation to The Fiery Pits. Playing the module for that deck was such fun but you’ve never imagine that someone so young had a hand in it. Clearly, story-telling and imagination are in the genes at Creature Curation. Brian let us in on some of Wyatt’s inspiration.
Wyatt had the idea for the Embreson, god of fire and passion, to have volcanoes on his back. He also had the idea for him to be hibernating beneath the Fiery Pits. He was playing a lot of Skylanders at the time that we were coming up with the gods, and wanted all of the different elements represented within the pantheon. Corsuvine the god of air and Anaxygosal the god of water were his direct ideas.The rest of the gods were highly inspired by Wyatt’s ideas to include all of the elements.
A World For All Ages
Revilo is a world with mass appeal for all age ranges. Using Atmar’s Cardography, anyone can enjoy Revilo and add their own tone to it. As we learned from Brian the stories and themes aren’t simplified. This means that my bi-weekly RPG group can use these decks and I can still whip them out for a Sunday afternoon fun run with my kids. As Brian mentioned before, the Cardography RPG modules might require some parental discretion because of the violence that is usually any RPG adventure but he’s run it for 8 year olds and reports that they had a blast. I can attest that my kids and my friends both had a great time with Revilo.
Funded Day One – Don’t Wait
Creature Curation and Norse Foundry are so beloved in the gaming community that this Kickstarter was fully funded by the end of the first day. they are up to their third stretch goal as of this writing. You want to get in on this now because the Kickstarter runs from August 28 to September 18 which means you have 15 days from the date of this article to get in on this amazing project. I’ve already backed this one for the full five decks. I’m virtually drooling over the stretch goals and add ons. Having already played a couple of one shot by 5th edition rules with the first two decks, I can’t recommend this project highly enough!
