Available in Black, Fossil (a grey heather), and Blue (a blue heather), the long-sleeved Scottevest Daphne dress is perfect for lounging at home, wearing for business, or while you’re traveling the world. And, with four hidden pockets, it has earned a permanent place on my travel packing list.

The dress is a knit poly/spandex blend. It’s completely machine washable, and you can tumble it dry on low. You can also use a cool iron, but you’re unlikely to need an iron very often. You can pretty much ball it up and then hang it up and there are no wrinkles. The fabric is also fairly stretchy, so it’s perfect for comfort and for life’s inevitable weight fluctuations.

I tested out a black Daphne dress. The fabric’s outside has a very smooth, slippery feel, while the inside of the fabric, next to your skin, is very soft, the kind of soft that would clean your phone screen exceptionally well.

The Pockets

It wouldn’t be a Scottevest product without useful pockets! This dress has four. The left wrist has a small zipper pocket that is large enough to hold money, cards, or maybe a small writing implement and paper. Its dimensions are larger than credit card size, so you have a lot of options there. The inside of this pocket seems to be the same material as the dress itself.

The left hip area has a larger zipper pocket which is plenty big for your whole hand and wrist, or a large phone or your keys. Or a small book. Or… The inside of this pocket is a soft jersey fabric and thus less slippery, which is helpful to keep things from falling out when the zipper is unzipped.

The right hip area has a large zipper pocket similar to the one on left side, and is also made of the jersey fabric, but this pocket has a little sub-pocket inside to hold on more tightly to your phone or money or receipts. This extra pocket is also useful for your keys, to protect the other things in your pocket from getting scratched.

Versatility

The Scottevest Daphne dress is exceptionally versatile. It’s a no-brainer dress for wear at the office. Or, you can be more casual, pairing it with sandals, or put on fancy shoes and envelope yourself in a fancy wrap for a night at the opera. You may even be able to leave your purse at home, since the pockets not only hold all of your important items, but they all zip securely closed.

The shape of the dress is described as faux-wrap, as it looks like a wrap dress, but it’s just a slip-over-the-head type. It’s flattering on many types of figures, and Scottevest has it in sizes XS to M4 (which equates to 5XL).

Due to the fabric and the long sleeves, it is probably best to wear the dress in moderate to cool weather, or whenever you’re in air conditioning, such as in a cold office, cold airports and airplanes, and travel during June-August in the southern hemisphere.

The dress shape and construction, however, lend well to doubling as maternity wear for expectant mothers, at least through the second trimester. The slightly high waist gives room for plenty of developing baby. And, since the bodice is that faux-wrap style, the dress is totally breastfeeding compatible.

Scottevest

Scottevest is known for creating quality clothing with plenty of pockets. Some of their clothing (such as their original vests and their jackets) focus on including an almost infinite number of pockets, which makes them versatile and very functional. The clothes for women that aim to be more form than function, though, manage to retain both, with style and just enough pockets to carry what you need. You likely won’t want to carry a full-sized iPad in your fancy night-on-the-town dress. But you will need your phone, keys, wallet, and other small things, and Scottevest clothes for women, such as this Daphne dress, have the minimum number of places to stash your stuff without bulking up the garment.

The Daphne dress is only $63 right now (originally $90) for Scottevest’s Mother’s Day sale! Use code MOM2018 for 30% off most of their products for women. The sale ends on May 10 at 11am Mountain Time.

You can buy many of Scottevest’s products on Amazon, and their full line is on their website.

Note: I received a dress sample for review purposes.
