Sumo Lounge makes larger-than-life beanbag and lounges filled with 100% polyurethane foam. This is not your average bean bag chair.

If this review were a movie, it would be called Honey, I Blew Up The Bean Bag Chair or maybe even Attack of the Bean Bag Chair. Either one would properly describe the reactions I’ve received to my Sumo Lounge Gigantor ($399) and matching ottoman ($99).

My place is too small for something as large as the Gigantor, but thankfully my office had just enough space to accommodate it. Anyone who has seen it has had nothing but good things to say about my latest office edition. So far, three people have been brave enough to sit down and one of them offered to buy it from me on the spot.

Sorry guys, but this one is all mine.

Sumo’s website is a bit overwhelming with a wide range of sizes and colors to pick from. I wanted something that I could curl up in with a book and get the feeling of being surrounded by a big hug. My rep suggested I check out the Gigantor with matching ottoman and he was spot on. Since it arrived, I’ve taken several lunch breaks curled up in it to my reader’s delight to enjoy a good book. Unfortunately, it’s so comfy my reading time easily turned into nap time.

Pros

  • Easy to setup
  • Comfortable
  • The cover is easy to put on (but this particular model does require two people to pull it off)
  • Outside cover is machine washable
  • Lifetime guarantee which covers refill foam (with free shipping) and the stitching on the covers

Cons

  • The bigger they are, the harder they are to move, and this one was heavy. A week after my bean bag chair arrived, I was told I was moving offices. I felt like dressing up as Indiana Jones and letting the others roll it after me.

Overall…

I’m satisfied with my Sumo Lounger. It’s big enough to lose myself in when I’m reading and I can share it with a buddy if the cuddle bug bites. The foamy interior is more comfortable than the traditional filling of a beanbag chair, and I can fluff it around when I need to get it to reshape. The lifetime guarantee is a bonus that makes the $399 purchase feel more secure.

Where to buy it?

The Gigantor by Sumo Lounger is currently on sale for $399 and is available in 13 colors. Head over to their website to pick out the one that matches your lifestyle.
