Top 10 Reasons to Buy a Beam Authentic

Electronics GeekMom Reviews

BEAM is a smart button that lets you “beam” to express yourself and let the world know where you stand. And the 400×400 resolution with 24-bit high color AMOLED screen gives you high-quality images to show whatever you feel like expressing off with style. The battery lasts for 24 hours on a single charge and when it needs a rest, it only takes 2 hours to charge back up!

The app works on iOS and Android devices and includes features for designing your own buttons, streaming a friend’s designs, and much more.

Before you get started on me that it’s one more thing to charge or that there’s an endless supply of non-battery operated buttons, hear me out and then you can troll the comments section.

Yes, regular buttons are great and endless at cons and events but how many of those did YOU design and put your signature on? How many of them are shoved in a drawer never to see the light of day again?

I rest my case.

And let’s say for giggles you wanted to create your own button; do you realize how annoying and expensive those button machines are? I’ve never heard anyone go, “HEY! Let’s go get out the button machine and have some fun!” without a glass of wine in their hand (and several more glasses already in their system).

With all that said, here are my top 10 reasons why I think the BEAM is the newest and coolest tech accessory.

1. Express yourself with your own designs.

The BEAM app lets you create your own designs or upload something you made on your computer for total control over your creations.

2. Show your team love and quickly switch to your political stance.

You can store up to 100 BEAMs on the device and with the push of a button go between each of them. Going to a political rally in the morning and a hockey game that night? Just push a button to switch between your candidate and your team.

3. Show off your mood with gifs

Create or use one of the GIFs available to get your point across. When I was on my Disney cruise my Steamboat Willie GIF got a lot of attention from both guests and performers. Pluto thought it was a magic button and dragged me to his greeter to show it to him. GIF files will drain the battery a bit quicker but with a 24-hour battery life, you won’t lose too much.

4. Don’t panic.

The panic button feature lets you send a message to up to four people along with a message. Going for a jog and want someone to call you in an hour to check in? Walking home alone at night? Push the button and let someone know.

5. Hire Me!

Going to a networking event? How cool would it be to have your logo flashing for attention or “HIRE ME!” to let people know you are not only creative but bold. Promote your business or yourself with a custom design.

6. Follow your favorite organizations.

Follow and BEAM content directly from your favorite teams, organizations, and friends. Some organizations are taking donations via the app and your profile will show which organizations you’ve supported.

7. Slideshow your favorites.

Have more than one thing you want to say? Create a slideshow of up to 10 BEAMs and have them change on a set amount of time. Instead of carrying photos of my cosplays on my cruise, I created BEAMs and just filtered through them to show people who wanted to see pictures of me.

8. Wear it proud however you want.

BEAM comes with the option to wear it as a pin, strap it to a bag, or use the magnetic back to secure it wherever you want. The magnetic back is pretty strong and I never had any issues when it was on my shirt or my bag.

Okay… so I had a hard time coming up with a total of 10 things but if you think of how many designs you can come up with and how many ways you can express yourself with such a simple concept then that makes up the remaining 9 and 10 reasons.

BEAM is available through BEAM’s website for $99. $3 of your purchase will go to one of three charities of your choice to support education, water, or human rights.

Are you ready to express yourself? In what ways do you think you could use BEAM? Let us know in the comments.
