ELENA OF AVALOR - EXCLUSIVE CLIP - 'Elena of Avalor' TV Movie
ELENA OF AVALOR – Premiered this summer on Disney Channel, “Elena of Avalor” is an animated series that follows Elena, a brave and adventurous teenager who saves her kingdom from an evil sorceress and must now learn to rule as crown princess until she is old enough to be queen. (Disney Channel)

The upcoming Elena of Avalor TV movie “Elena and the Secret of Avalor,” premiering on November 20th, has become a very big deal in our home.

Both my five-year-old, Ella, and my husband are looking forward with great anticipation to seeing the crossover with Sofia the First There are many great reasons to love this show, including the close ties to Mesoamerican and South American culture. Ella has had Episode nine, A Day to Remember, repeatedly this past month. The song about ‘Dia Des Los Murertos’ is sung daily here.

In a sea of animated shows to choose from both online and on television, we can’t give enough wonderful reviews to Elena. If you haven’t seen it yet, please go watch episodes here at The Disney Channel. She is getting hugely popular, as evidenced by the five Elena backpacks I saw at my daughter’s Kindergarten class, not to mention the numerous Elena costumes this past Halloween.

I had the pleasure of sitting down with the creators Craig Gerber and Silvia Cardenas of Elena a few month ago and asked if we would get to see more of the origin story between the two princesses. We were all delighted when our friends at Disney sent over this exclusive clip from the Elena movie.

The clip captures a pivotal moment in the movie: the exact moment Sofia frees Elena from the amulet she’s been imprisoned in for over 40 years.

“Elena and the Secret of Avalor,” premieres as a special simulcast SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 20 (7:00-8:05 p.m. EST), on Disney Channel and Disney Junior. The TV movie tells the backstory of how Elena was imprisoned in her magical amulet by the evil sorceress Shuriki, voiced by legendary actress Jane Fonda, and eventually set free by Princess Sofia of Enchancia. Elena’s anthem “My Time,” performed by Aimee Carrero (voice of Princess Elena), makes its debut in the special TV movie. “Elena and the Secret of Avalor” will also be available on the Disney Channel and Disney Junior apps and Disney Channel VOD beginning Sunday, November 20.”
