Buddhify is an app that lets you practice the art of mindfulness without the need for being a Buddhist master. For $4.99 you get 80 meditations that range from four to twelve minutes in length. There are no in-app purchases and no internet connection required to listen. Just put in your headphones and listen to one of the five different voices guide you through a mindfulness exercise.

My favorite part of the app is the wide spectrum of “needs” to pick from.

Buddhify Wheel of Mindfulness

The “mindfulness wheel” as I call it has 16 different tracks ranging from being online, to work break, enjoying nature, and others. Each of the tracks has their own set of options with various lengths of meditations available.

Buddhify Tracks

Depending on the time of day, certain tracks will stick out from the rest. While I’m at work, the “feeling stressed,” “being online,” “work break,” and “eating” pieces sticking out a bit. At night the “Can’t Sleep” and “Going to Sleep” tracks are more prominent.

Some of the meditations give you instructions on how to sit or interact with your device when you’re done (like the going to sleep track) others let you stay connected online or use your phone as you listen.

A bonus feature, or lack of feature I guess, is you cannot set notifications and I’m grateful for it. If you want a reminder to use the app, the creators suggest you put it your home screen so you see it anytime you unlock your device.

If you get the hang of it or are a more experienced meditator, you can use the solo timer to keep track of your time.

Buddhify Solo

You can keep track of your stats and how your feeling after each meditation in the Stats screen. If you’re curious as to how many others meditated with you in the virtual world then the Together screen will reveal all.

Buddhify Stats

This is not my first rodeo with mindfulness / meditation apps and so far this one is by far my favorite. It’s simple, doesn’t restrict you to the same voice for each meditation, and you don’t have to be a Buddhist master to feel accomplished when you’re done.

Buddhify costs $4.99 and is available for iOS and Android.

  1. Thanks for this review! I’m in the processing of creating a challenge for my tween and needed a good app for this aspect of it. Sounds like it will slot in really well 🙂
