Binge Watch ‘Outlander’ Before April 9th

Entertainment GeekMom TV and Movies

If you’ve never had the chance to watch Outlander, Starz is giving you a chance to catch up before the second season begins. After April 9, you’ll need a Starz subscription or to buy the series on DVD/streaming media (currently about $40).

This Doctor Who-inspired romance series begins in 1945 with Claire and Frank Randall on a second honeymoon in Inverness, Scotland. Claire is inadvertently plunged two hundred years back in time, where she meets danger, romance, and a lot of Scottish accents. If you like costume dramas, try the first episode and see what you think.

This is not kid-friendly material. Outlander has graphic violence, explicit language, and steamy sex scenes with nudity.

Speaking of steamy, the original book series is also one of our top geeky romance picks, and if you order the Kindle version, you can add the Audible narration for an extra $3.99.

There are 16 episodes of a little over an hour each, and you only have until April 9th to watch this for free, so budget your time accordingly.

The second season picks up with Claire and Jamie’s adventures in France.

  1. Ugh to “Doctor Who inspired.” Yes, she saw an episode set in Scotland that made her think a a Scottish leading man would be a Good Idea. And yes the show involves time travel. That’s pretty much were any resemblance to Who ends. Making it sound like some sort of Doctor Who clone absolutely sells the writing and gravitas of the series (book and TV) short.

    1. I didn’t say it was a doctor who clone. Plenty of books/shows were inspired by things without being copycats. I included a link with more information for that reason.

      Thanks.
